Course description
The powerful network management toolset, IBM Tivoli Network Manager IP Edition (ITNM) V3.7, formerly Netcool/Precision IP, provides broad device and protocol coverage, automated device discovery, network topology visualization, and network event root-cause analysis. ITNM will anchor future Tivoli Layers 1 to 3 and next-generation network management offerings because it addresses the scalability and flexibility needs of enterprises that manage large business-critical environments.

This course will help you learn how to upgrade existing IBM NetView 7.1.x customers to ITNM V3.7. There is value in the information and configuration work that customers have put into IBM NetView 7.1.x. Tivoli development has created some tools to migrate existing information from NetView 7.1.x to ITNM V3.7.

This training class is provided in a classroom environment with many opportunities for hands-on practice.


Objectives
After completing this course, students should be able to:

Learn the differences of common NetView deployment scenarios
List the benefits of upgrading to ITNM IP
Examine the configuration of an existing NetView server
Communicate to the customer what configuration items you can migrate
Migrate applicable NetView configuration items during or after an ITNM IP installation
