CD image:
An installation disk can be created by using the IBM-SVC-SMIS-Agent-4.2.1.824.iso file.
This CD can then be used to install the SAN Volume Controller Console code on a machine that meets the hardware requirements documented in the SAN Volume Controller Configuration Guide.
Alternatively, SVCC V4.2.1.824 can be installed directly from the extracted zip file by double clicking on setup.exe in the W2K directory.
Please follow the instructions in the accompanying documentation.
Problems Resolved and New Features in this build are detailed in the Release Note (see Download Package below).

Mandatory Pre-Installation Requirements
SVC Cluster and SVC Console (GUI) Compatibility
This version of SVCC should be installed before you install a cluster pre-configured with SVC V4.2.1.x or upgrade an existing cluster to SVC V4.2.1.x.
Please visit SAN Volume Controller and SVC Console (GUI) Compatibility for information on which SVC Console (GUI) levels are recommended for each SAN Volume Controller cluster level.
SVCC 4.2.1.824 is not fully compatible with SVC versions prior to V4.2.1.0 and as such should only be used with SVC clusters running previous versions of SVC code in order to upgrade them to SVC V4.2.1.x.
If you are planning to concurrently support SVC clusters running at SVC V4.2.1.x and previous versions of SVC code, you should consider how you are going to manage both cluster versions.
Two options are available to you:
1. Install SVCC V4.2.1.824 on your master console and use this to administer both systems. If you choose this option you will need to use the command line interface to perform cluster configuration operations on any clusters running at less than SVC V4.2.1.0.
2. Install different versions of the SAN Volume Controller Console on different host systems. The SAN Volume Controller Console can be installed on any system that meets the hardware requirements defined in the SAN Volume Controller Configuration Guide. SVCC V4.2.1.824 can then be used to administer your SVC V4.2.1.x clusters and earlier SVCC versions can be used to administer clusters running earlier versions of the SVC software.
Caution: Only one version of SVCC can be installed on any one system.
SVC and TPC Compatibility
Customers currently using TPC should upgrade to TPC V3.3.1 before installing SVCC V4.2.1.824.
